what a eel would eat?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
why is this in the invert section? anyway what sp. of eel is it? there are a lot of different species of eels and fish that are sold as eels and care requirements can vary a lot from species to species.

I'm assuming spiny. If thats the case bloodworm cubes. I wouldn't think walmart would have any other kind..

Post a pic for the experts here to ID, or try searching through the forums on this site to match your eel. What size and pattering?

I agree, from a chain store it's likely a spiny eel, so bloodworms are a great first choice. Make sure you seal off the tank top or before it gets a chance to eat it will go for a walk!

Good luck.

Well, I think walmart has three fish that could be called an "eel" but I think young, feeding them all cubed frozen blood worms would work.

It's either:
a) a spiny eel (peacock, tiretrack, fire, etc)
b) Dinosaur Birchir (Sengal) - Sometimes called a Dragon Eel
c) Dragon Goby - Also sometimes called a Dragon Eel

Nother question - what size tank do you have?
In the future, it's best to do a bit of research on the fish you're about to buy before you actually buy it. That way you know what to expect when you bring the animal home.

I saw Dojo Loaches at Walmart before, it could be that...
