My old one is starting to go and need to get a replacement :)

I tried one of those led fixtures people use from Walmart but ended up being a little too yellow for my liking and also got pretty hot.

No plants, just some duckweed in the tank

What do you consider affordable? That is fairly subjective.

You could try the Finnex 24/7 planted plus would be fine for your duckweed and has day night cycles.

I have a current USA led on my reef tank and am happy, I imagine there fresh water version would be good as well-this also has day night cycles.

Hello G Galactik ,
I bought a 4' LED 5000K shop light for $30 on Amazon. I don't think they sell 6 footers in single packs though. Maybe try Home Depot. I have found Beam Works to be the next cheapest lights available on Amazon. If you want plants Beam Works or something similar would be better. GL

I have 2, 6 foot Beamworks on my 150 and have been satisfied. That being said I also have a Fluvall Plant Spectrum on my 36 right next to the 150 and the quality of that light is much better. But the Beamworks are decent and affordable.

Beamswork for sure. I have a 6fter on my 220g. The one negative is that due to the length it sags in the middle. I would recommend that you get 2 3fters instead.

Really? I have no sag in mine at all. And that picture has the added weight of the level.

Does the light rest directly on the tank for its full length? Or on its legs at the ends?
Even with evenly spaced supports mine has a slight curve. I know of other hobbyists with the same light and experience.

How cheap are you wanting to go? I've had great luck with aquaneat blue/white led lights. The main failure point people complain about is the switch, but they unplug and are easily replaced. I have had a bunch of these lights in different lengths long term now, and I've only had one switch fail. The manufacturer is CLL pet supply and they have upgraded the switches. They sent me bunch of replacement switches at no charge to me and I only needed one. I just emailed them directly. Also I would highly recommend running two 36 inch lights on a 72 inch tank. They are more usable for other tanks later on, cheaper to replace if you have a problem with one, and there are simply way more options out there. 72's seem to be a lot less common.
