This is my first post ever on a forum so please bear with me. I'm thinking about setting up my first salt water tank and i have been reading a lot of very useful information. One thing i haven't seen discussed or at least haven't been able to find is how to properly aerate your tank.

Keep the water circulation brisk, particularly over the surface of the water. Incorporate an oversized protein skimmer to both handle wastes and oxygenate the water. Run a refuge with macro algae(Chaetomorpha) on a reverse light cycle to the tank lights. Get the biggest overflow you can for the tank and proper return pump. Have some powerheads in the tank to keep the water moving. That will keep your tank oxygen saturated and healthy.

just to give some more info on the tank i will be using its a 25g 12Wx24Lx21H. not a very big tank just want to try setting one up and have the extra tank. i have a HOB filter and protein skimmer witch are both rated for twice the tank size. i wont be doing a sump never have but with the info that i have been reading on them definitely going to try one out on another tank. i just have heard some bad stuff about air stones and bubble wands in a SW setup. so i was wondering if this with some powers heads would be sufficient at aerating the tank.

I agree with you that airstones cause a mess. You end up with salt creep all over the area it is place.

You should be ok with the way you propose. Above I was suggesting pretty much every way to accomplish what you want, but some powerheads that really agitate the surface will suffice.
