I have an aggressive community tank with a mated pair of JD's that have just spawned. I don't have the time or resources to try and raise the fry so I would like to seperate the pair before they spawn again. Do you think this combo would work?

55 gal tank
JD female (6 inches, not aggressive, likes to stay in her flower pot)
GT Male (3 inches, new juvenile)

Thanks!

Thanks Shamrock.

I can't believe how many JD fry I have swimming around the thank and the mother and father are attacking everything. I may have to just vacum out the fry and dispose of them even though I hate to do this.

just put the jd's together in the 55 alone. throw up a quick 20 long for the gt to grow out in if the other comm tank is too large or aggro for it.

that way you can raise alot of free jd feeders, get them all fattened up and feed them to your aggro community.

Great idea Perfect.

I have two options:

1. a ten gal with a sponge filter I could put the fry in and raise as feeders.

2. a 29 gal which currently has a 3" convict and a 2.5" texas, both grow outs. it also has 6 cory cats. I could put the 3" GT in there and move the JD's and fry to the 55 gal. But won't the JD parents eventually eat thier own fry if not seperated?

Thanks!
