all pvc plumbing, running from the tank to the sump and back to the tank. i know the standard way of sealing pvc is pvc cement, but is this aquarium safe? the guy i bought the tank from had purple adhesive around the seals, im guessing thats pvc cement so will it work without being toxic to the fish?
any help is greatly appreciated

Yes, standard PVC cement is fine.

Regular PVC cement will work fine. Most types are approved for drinking water and should not hurt your fish. If you are still concerned about it, try Gorilla PVC glue, it is non-toxic and envrio friendly.

i would imagine if you can use pvc sealant on the plumbing in your house for things like your sink, dishwasher etc. you can use it for your aquarium.

For the most part I have to agree if it is good for Potable water then it's good for the aquarium.

I did however just find out that those black rubber furncos gaskets are not suitable for potable water. And I've used a few of those for years on my Pond. Anyone else use them on your stuff?
