Hey guys what algae eaters do you keep with your big polys? Im starting to have an algae problem in my tank and dont want to manually clean the tank up. Ive tried some common plecs and ALL plecos that I've put in either steal food and hiding spots or ride on my poly's backs and suck on em like theyre made of algae. I want to try snails but am afraid of having a snail problem. What fish or invert do you guys suggest?

-Control lighting.
-WC twice a week. It helps really.
-Go and buy some Kataba Guppies, 10p per pack. Knife Live Bearers, they do eat algae, won't nibble or harass your fish, and easy to replace when your polys decides to eat your Livebearers...
-2-3 weeks quarantine tho...

Ive got kataba in mine about 4 days a week but dont touch the algae because I have xmas moss all over and they eat moss like crazy. And I water change 25% per week. My tank is outside but not under direct sunlight and still algae grows.

I think your Nitrates is up to 80ppm+, mainly because of the WC, Do WC 2x a week it will help, also yes, they're omnivores so they would touch any plant matter inside the tank. Most of the algae eaters such as plecos would definitely uproot or eat the plants within your tank, so pretty much all you can do is WC twice a week, like maybe every tuesdays or saturdays/ every 3 days atleast...

Add plants or flagtails are supposed to be god algae eaters. Though if I recall they eat plants too. They also grow to a pretty good size but if you have big polys that's a plus.

Ive got a pothos system already established in the tank. Is that enough? No aquatic plants just plenty of moss attached to driftwood and two power heads each connected to a top filter. Return rate is around 12-14x. Can it be caused by overfeeding?

I use nerite snails for algae in my tank. Their eggs won't hatch in freshwater so there's no risk of population explosion (but they will still lay the eggs which is obnoxious).
