i have a 10gal tank that i use to raise feeders (guppies) i put a plant in it about 4-5 months ago and it was doing pretty good. grew to the top then spread out with lots leafs and thick.
well actually i had minows in it at first, but they did not reproduce, i feed them all out and then it sat for a few months with no fish, this whole time i pretty much never changed the water (would kill the fish when i did) and the plant just keep on growing, well i get the guppies in there and half of them die so i cleaned the tank some and did a water change, then did a few more over time just to clean the tank out, well my plant started thining out and losing leafs. all the vines and stems are still there, just no leafs really.
well in my 75gal with my oscars i put a plant in there, it was doing good, had to trim it back a few times cause it was getting to tall, oscars were getting bigger, i was feeding them more and water changes were becoming more frequent. i noticed after one of my large water changes the plant kind of shrivled/shrunk some. and its not getting worse and worse when it was doing pretty good i thought.
it seems water changes are messing things up, i know it would help if i knew what kinda of plants they were, i dont right now, but will water changes make that big of a deal with them???
