Let me introduce myself......

I have been in the hobby since I was 5(literally). I started out with a 10 gallon then i upgraded to a 29g. I haven't actually gotten "into" the hobby. Now i want to make my 29g planted. What i have in there now is 2 pink kissing gourami, 3 tiger barbs, 1 pleco, 2 unknown i think they're cichlids but weirdly very peaceful. What am i getting into if i want to make it planted?..........Thank you in advance

Welcome to MFK. :)

You need to fix your stock before you make the tank planted. Tiger Barbs need to be kept in a school of 6, as the very minimum.
Pink kissing Gouramis...They can reach a foot long and shouldn't be kept in a 29 gallon.
What kind of Pleco? Is it a common pleco? If so, those easily get over a foot long, some get to 2 feet. Should not be kept in a 29 gallon.
Do you have any pictures of these two 'unknown' fish?

With the stock you have now, it might be tricky to get a planted tank going, based on the fact it sounds like there isn't much room (although i don't know the size of your fish right now)... also not sure what cichlids you have, but some of them do like to re-arrange their tanks if given the chance, and may also cause you problems in a planted tank...

Anyway, i guess a good question to ask is how high or low tech do you want to go with this planted tank? are you planning on going the whole 9 yards with Co2, Ferts and everything else, or you literally want to go bare minimum...

Coz as i'm sure you know, different plants will have different requirements, so depending on what you want to keep, you may have to upgrade some equipment...
