What am I? Identify this fish please.

I rescued this Fish Yesterday. I can't figure out what it is. Thought it was a small (8") grouper. Will not eat. It was left untended for at least a week. It was in a fresh water tank. Is brown with very small light blue spots that almost touch. see images.
If I can Identify this fish I might be able to save it.

It's a Texas cichlid. H. cyagnotatus (sp?)

Texas Cichlid looks to have ireguler spots and some are elongated into lines. expecialy on the head. this fish has very regular spots, all the same. but I thing you are close.​

^^^^its a fresh water fish...not a saltwater fish. So fw would be a start.
