I own one...they'll eat a lot of different things. Heres a few things they'll eat -- worms, sinking catfish pellets, smaller fish, & frozen foods

Probably, mine only comes out when there is NO light on at all...I think they hate light
 
Also, I've heard they can reach a maximum size of about 12" in home aqauria...mine grows really slow though, possibly because I always have my black light/regular light on all the time & so he doesnt really come out to eat. They're nocturnal I guess and are very shy
