I bought these today after somebody mistakenly sold them as Red Empress Malawi Cichlids.
I buy and sell American Cichlids, and I knew right away that these where Americans.
I suspect them to be either Midas or Flowerhorn but cant decide from the two.
I know that Midas come in different colours from red, orange and even white.
But the way these are coloured make me believe they could be a low grade FH,
the front end of the fish are a diluted reddish colour from stress and it fades into a yellow colour at the rear end. The eyes are a deep red colour as well.
Any other possibility?
If anyone knows for sure that would be great.

looks like a bunch of labiatus (red devils) to me

I am 100% sure they are in the red devil midas complex. At the size they are its really difficult to tell wether they are midas, red devils, or a hybrid between the 2.
75 divided by 22 is around 3.50 pounds. In the lfs in my area they go for around 2-8 USD per inch (for example a 3" fish could be anywhere from 6 to 24 USD)
a US dollar is 0.6 pounds so 3.6 - 14.4 pounds would be a good price (assuming these are 3" fish). In the end, you didnt get them for a bad price.
Hope that helped

You have been great help, thank you so much.
I would assume with you living in the US these fish are quite easy to come by with being American cichlids? They are somewhat of a rarity over here in the UK so might put them up at either £5-£6 per fish which would be much more cheaper than all the local lfs and local breeders. Thanks a million FestaeDan.

Where about are you reel?? I'm south wales, I'll be happy to grow some out for you hahaha.

they look like baby midevils, pretty safe to say they arnt pure rd or midas as that really is a rarity in the uk... even bout as midas! they are definitely midevils, they will all start peeling to yellow/orange very soon... will be fun. i would list them for 5 pounds each and sell them as midevils as to not confuse the already deluded public as far as genuine strains of amphilophus here in the uk.

Some kind of flower horn gets my vote. I saw fish like that all the time at the lfs I worked at.
