My LFS guy gave me this orphan,,,,he had no clue except he thought it was a Viega type? He/she is a good seven inches, and currently alone in a 75 gallon. Anyone have any idea what this fish is? Many thanks in advance.

Im guessing regani but am prob wrong

Regani all the way. It's awesome. I have some 2-3 inches, and they grow super slow. It took a long time for that fish to get to that size. I have fry, basically. YOU have a nice Regani. And the price was right.

Hey thanks for the confirmation guys. I'm pretty sure it's a female even though her colors are amazing....but her dorsal fin, though pointed, doesnt trail. And no sign of the male forehead thing despite being a good 7 maybe 8 inches long. This all said....I'm thinking a 75 is good? Or should I be looking for a 90 or 125?.....but actually aren't the depth measurements the same?...18 inches?...haha I don't know.

I've had regani twice, and a tank in the 6 ft range seems best to me.
They can be rather paranoid, and tough not outwardly aggressive, I believe it would take a 75 gal as an entire territory, and may not allow any other cichlid to survive with it.
You could be lucky, if it is a female and get a mild mannered one.
The 2nd time I tried them, after the male killed all other cichlids in a 220, it then basically hid 90% of the time.
