So i bought this labeled as a red texas. I bought it at about 2.5" or so and bought it bc of the aggression and personality it showed so small. It about 5" -6" now an20180822_231323.jpg d has crazy pearling. But the fins and body all have a dark red base. But it also has red eye and black tail circle like a red terror. I see texas for sure. Red? Hybrid?
This fish is crazy mean and will bite anything that hits the water including fingers.

Definitely some sorta Texas hybrid. Pretty damn badass as well. I'm not much on hybrids, but red texas stand out. They usually have the same shape as a normal texas just with the peeling red colors from the amphilophus genes.

I saw a cool video on Youtube yesterday of some convict/salvini hybrids that looked killer. Looked like salvinis but had convict banding on the back half of their body.

I'm gonna guess female but only because of the dark spot on dorsal fin. But being a hybrid it could have come from some other gene pool. Nice fish though.

Update us on growth and color fading.

Usually they breed a carpintis with a red devil then take that fry and cross it with a flowerhorn and then cross that back to somethin else, hell i dont know.

Its some sorta recipe like that.

It looks like a cyano pearling though....not a carpintis? Its more like individual spots than globs of pearling like a carpintis has.

The banding looks like a flowerhorn to me though, or something?
