I recently purchased this guy from a mixed Central American Cichlid tank at my local fish shop. He definitely has some Carpintis in him, but I’m not sure what to make of his other genetic make-up. I felt like he deserved a good home, so I put him in a 65G for the time being. Possibly a Festae x Carpintis? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I need some feedback from the experts.

Thanks for the feedback. After venting, I’m 90% sure it’s a male.

its def a texas cross, other half could be mayan, red terror, ect ect, no way to tell with all the hybrid breeding going on now days

Lol if ya got a few hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket ya could always just get it DNA tested. Then ya would know exactly what it is. But yeah I'd agree that it's probably a Texas crossed with a Mayan or some specie of Amphilophus. Probably Mayan just due to the tail spot size and placement. If it was part red terror I would expect the tail spot to be allot smaller and placed further up towards the top of the tail.
