Since I've started keeping cichlids, I've always wondered if I'm overfeeding, underfeeding, or in between. Figured it'd be nice for everyone to see everyone elses feeding routine since nutrition, along with water quality, is 1 of the most important things for our fish. So what does your feeding schedule look like? What size is your fish? what size pellet is used and how many do u feed?

Right now I got my 9.5" male jag on 3mm NLS thera+, 3mm NLS large fish formula, omega 1 large super color cichlid pellets, and hikari carnivore pellets. I'll usually just walk over to the tank throughout the day and drop 1 or 2 pellets in there at a time so I'd say on average he gets anywhere from 4-8 of these pellets total per day, more or less depending if I worked or had the day off. I skip Mondays since I feed a little more during the weekend and may start skipping Thursdays as well when he gets a little bigger. For a treat he gets frozen krill or frozen freshwater mysis once a week.

What do you all feed your fish???

Melenurus X 3 1.5-2"
Festae X 2 2.5"
Sun catfish 3"
White catfish (I think) 3"

They are in a 265g tank and I'm currently doing 50% water changes about twice a week.

I do different schedules with different foods.

8" Jag = Tilapia fillets cut into little pieces the size of his eye soaked in a little vitachem & I wrap them around a few NLS thera a or omega 1 1mm pellets (Picky sob). I feed about 4 per day 6 days a week. Change his water 50% twice a week and his parameters are 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 10ppm or lower nitrates. I'll feed whole silversides, earthworms, grasshoppers, etc as a replacement for his meal once every 2 weeks.

2x 3" Labiatus & 2x 1.5-2" cons = Omega 1 mini or nls thera a 1mm 2x per day I try to get them until their belly gets slightly slightly rounded, but it never works out. Basically a couple of sprinkles trying to spread it around evenly as possible. Water quality is exact same as the jag.

Dovii 12-13" (sold)= 3-4mm NLS pellets probably 6-8 pellets a day skipping 1-2 days. Water quality same as the above. Treats same as the Jag

I keep my fish on the hungry side & my temps at 80F (not beani's etc) with plenty of current.
