Feeder Fish
THere are a lot of aquadic plant food supplements out there. Lots of fizzing tablets and that sort of thing. SOme come in the form of a liquid you can add via drops. I was jsut wonderign what would be good to add. I want to get my tank filled with plants that grow and multiply.

I've used SeaChem's Flourish tabs with good effect on some swords. I also add a bit of liquid Flourish for my 20g which has java fern and some java moss in it. I haven't conducted any "experiments" but the java ferns appear to be growing well so far. GreenTouch can probably give good advice if he sees this thread. One piece of advice -- make sure you know whether your plants "feed" from the substrate or the water column, as this will determine, broadly, what kind of ferts to use.

not necessarily, pay attention to what Nicholo said, it depends on whether your plants are root feeders (tablets) or column feeders (liquid). You gotta know about your plants.

think it might be better to integrate the fertilizer into your substrate. there are many different ways to do this... some people use laterite, vemiculite, various clays. the easiest thing IMO would be to use a substrate which is made for planted aquarium like Seachem Flourite. be careful when using liquid additives so you aren't feeding algae instead of plants. there are many options for fertilizing plants, best thing i can tell you is do some research via google. there are lots of variables depending on what you want -- required lighting, co2 injection etc.

I am not goign to go foe the CO2 injection cause it is too expensive. But I have various types of plants and one tank is a sand bottom the other is a course gravel. I am lookign to get the sand bottom tank planted fully. I can look for some of the stuff that can be put under the sand in the roots but I would liek somethign that feeds them via the water itself. However my big problem is I have a red/brown alge problem in this tank. And I fear feedign the alge issue if I give tablets or liquid supplements.
