20gal might work out. Bigger is better. Also, bigger schools are less prone to nipping from what I understand. You might be better off with seven or nine in a 30g + tank. Some reports say they reach six inches, but the biggest I've seen them is four.

I recommend you get more then 5. You can overcrowd them in tanks. My LFS keeps them with same size piranhas in 3 different tanks. huge shoals of both piranhas and exodons.

Get a 55 and have 15 or so....they are crazy beast tetras.

do not keep them in a group of 5. you will need at least twice that.
