What are NGTs aggressive to?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've heard that they are the most aggressive of the dats but mine did'nt bother the others.Different factors play a part and I guess a community in a spacious enough tank would do well.

It all depends on the number of dats in the community and obviously the character of the fish itself.

MIne is about 10" is in the tank with 19 more dats ranging from 8-9" to 17". Him and the 17" widebar are the king of the tank. They still chases each other around. They've been together for almost 2 years now...

Can be kept w/ other dats. My 8'' ngt runs the tank. He pick on everyone from 6-9'' orino's, 9'' oscar and even my polys. NGT's have Attitude!

NGT usually hate other NGT's and when they get over 5" they get big enough to really hurt each other. They don't seem to mind other dats too much but that's depends on how many dats or other tankmates and the size of the tank and number of hiding places. They might be fine together when small but you won't find to many people who have larger NGT together as sub-adults.

I have 3 ngt, 8 it, 1 ntt. All different sizes.

The biggest ngt, 7.5 inch is starting to show more aggression than before, but nothing serious. Ngt have been in the tank for about 4 months now.

A second e.r tank is up and running incase I have to move one ofthe ngts.

all other members posts above, I totally agree with.

if you can find one for a decent price get it! i think they have the best coloration and patterns compared to all other dats

I have 2 IT's(7"&5"), an NTT(6"), 2 AT's(2") in with my 5" NGT. He was really aggressive with the IT's and NTT when I first got them but has settled down. I just had to get rid of a Ctenopoma acutirostre(bush fish) cause he wasn't allowing the NGT to stray away from his drfitwood.
