Hi Guys,

What are some species of Plecos that dont grow large? Bristlenoses grow around 6 inch right? What are others that stay fairly small, like under a foot?

I have a common pleco now but once it reaches about 7-8 inches I am gonna get rid of it. Im not a big pleco fan but I do like them. I dont/wont buy any fancy plecos. The ones I see at the LFSs mostly are common plecos, one called an Avocado pleco, Candy strike or stripe pleco, bristlenoses on occasion and thats about it really. Sometimes others like Gold Nuggets etc, but I dont wanna spend too much on one and i'd like to know of ones thats on the smaller side, and not too expensive and something thats commonly available. Like alot of these fancy plecos that some people have, Ive never seen in person. Thanks

I always suggest the following.

L010a
Sturisoma panamense
Rineloricaria parva
Panaque maccus
Chaestostoma spp.
Farlowella gracilis

There's also the snowball pleco which I like a lot.:D

Cool, I'll look these species up and see what I like and am able to find. I think a smaller growing pleco is more suitable for me. Not a big fan of them, but I do like them.

How about Scobinancistrus aureatus?

I don't think a pleco that reaches 1 foot can be considered small..

Look at the following genus.

- Parotocinclus
- Otocinclus
- Hypancistrus
