What are some beautiful coldwater fish that dont get too big. I dont want anything to do with any type of goldfish or koi.

rainbow darters have some amazing colors
some sunnys like bluegills and pumpkinseeds

There are some really nice darters and minnows that would be good for a little stream tank. Rainbow and Southern Redbelly dace are really cool. Some of my favorite darters are Rainbows, Orange Throat and Blue Breast. There are also some nice sunfish like Orange Spot and Pumpkinseeds. Be careful mixing darters/minnows with most sunfish though, or the smaller fish might get eaten

Not monsters of course, but pygmy sunfish and bluefin killies look great together, and a 10 gallon would be huge for them.

I've had some beaut pumpkinseeds. I don't have darters in this area or I'd have a tank for them.
