Hey everyone,
I'm going african mbuna again in my 75 gal. tank...I want to do two species in the tank, one of them being red zebras. I wanted about 10 of each, and i already have 1 male and 4 female red zebras so i just need to find some more females. Anyway, I was curious on what your opinions are in terms of what the other species in the tank could be. I want the other species to contrast the color of the red zebras well so i was thinking something with blue in it. Also, i dont want the other species to be overly aggressive, or at least more aggressive than the zebras (because i want the zebras to feel comfortable enough to breed). And obviously i want the 2nd species in the tank to be something that won't hybridize with the red zebras. Any suggestions? It would be nice if it was a species that is more commonly avaliable that i wont have to search forever trying to get. Let me know what you think!
Thanks everyone!

You could do rustys or acei.

Is there a possibility that the red zebras will hybridized with rustys since they have a similar shape and similar color? Pseudotropheus elongatus are very hard to come by in my area :/ would johanni or cyanerhabdos work or are they too aggressive for the zebras? Also another thought I had was having the red zebras and having a group of female kenyi because I love the female kenyi colors

I would doubt crossbreeding between red zebras and rustys. Maingano might work but you'd probably have to do 1:7.
Female kenyi can be just as aggressive as males, so I would avoid them. You could do a huge group of demasoni and those red zebras. Pretty nice contrast.

I have red and albino zebras in a tank with Demasoni, Rusties, Acei, White and Yellow labs and a giant Bumblebee. The only hybrids I seem to get are from the yellow labs and rusties..

Demasoni are cool species thats a dwarf mbuna so they stay pretty small, but are a little more on the aggro side. My zebras don't mess with my demasoni at all

Demasonis are really cool little guys, I've kept them before I've wanted to try to keep something I haven't worked with yet. I just thought of socolofi cichlids, the blue would contrast the orange nicely, any risk of cross breeding if I went with them? From what I've heard socolofis aren't overly aggressive so I'm assuming they would be fine with the zebras?

Socolofi should be OK. They are around the same aggression level.

Well Not 13" Frontosa lol!!!!

Found that out the hard way - 8 red zebra, four days later, only 3 red zebra

I took a video of a floating carcass but it's on my other pc

Woulda uploadedd
