What are some good tankmates for a redhead cichlid? I'm getting one in today and he's gunna be solo and 4 inches. I have 2 1.5 inch jack Dempseys, 2 blood parrots around 3-4 inches, and a pleco that's about 7inches all in a 55 gallon. I like to grow my fish out and sell them but I don't want any blood shed in the tank. Out of experience, would it work?

Welcome aboard

Personally wouldn't add a Redhead Tapajos to the mix. Geophagus do better in groups also the Jack Dempsey's may be too aggressive for the milder Geo.

So far my tank has been coexisting perfectly with Jack Dempsey's in there, no one's attacking anyone

By redhead cichlid do you mean geophagus Tapajos or vieja synspilum?

I mean, the 55 gallon would already be if you wanted to keep the fish in there forever, but you say you like to grow them out then sell them? Synspilum are not very aggressive IME, you could probably grow one out to 7" or so in there. But it is unpredictable, as all things with cuchlids can be. I would keep an eye on it if you do try

I would also ask what you mean by red head cichlid?
there are many that use that name.
Vieja bifasciata

Vieja fenestrata
Vieja melanura AKA synspillum

all the above, get too large for a 55 even as a solo fish
Geophagus red head Tapajos
