What are the chances that my fish still have fin-rot? Not sure if anyone saw my other post, but my Red Scat has recently past away, because of fin-rot. He was with a few puffers in the tank, and I did a %100 water change, added more salt than usual (Seems how it is a brackish tank) and I am adding 2 tps of Melafix daily for the past three days. I also had a Rainbow Shark and a Buffalo Head Cichlid in the tank (Had). I took them out, because I saw that they had some fin nips (Or its fin-rot). So I took them and put them in a bucket for now, and have been treating it for 1 day so far. The Puffer tank looks good, no signs of fin-rot, but the fish in the bucket have bitten fins, and the Rainbow Shark has some "scratches" on his side. Could it just be the cichlid picking on him? (I'm was planning on putting them into the 60-Gallon, but I am afriad of infecting everyone in the tank with fin-rot.
So, after all of this, what are the chances my fish still have fin-rot?
Help please!

Did you ever see any agression in your tank before?
Folks are gonna ask for waterparameters next.
Could there be any mess left in any corners or in the gravel?

I did notice aggression from the cichlid before, but nothing bad. Then again, I'm not awake during the night to see what happens.
Mess? I'm a bit confused with that, and the substrate is sand.

how long have you been treating your tank with Melafix? it says on the bottle to treat tank with Melafix at the rate of 5mls per 40 litres of water for 7 days, then do a 25% water change, treatment can be continued if necessary.

when my tank had fin rot, i treated tank for about 10 days, it seemed to do the trick.

hope your pets make it.

Thanks,
It has been 4 days now. The Puffers in the tank are showing some fin regrowth, which is a good sign. The Cichlid was also showing the same thing, so he is now in the 60-Gallon. The Rainbow Shark is growing a fungus on his sides from where he had the scratches. Any idea what that could be?

I would treat the shark with melafix again and get another med called pimafix. It cures any infections due to scratches and or lacerations. It will do the trick.

He didn't make it. The Shark died today. He bloated, and went belly up. Now that he was dead, I was able to get a closer look, and saw he had internal bleeding, which might have caused he bloating or swelling to occur.
First fin-rot, then a fungus, internal bleeding, and finally bloating or swelling.
