People seem to mention lights for corals for $75-150. I have never seen lights that could grow corals for less then $200. Am I missing something? If I had a 35 gallon hexagon, what are the cheapest lights I could do?

For the most part, the corals we put in the tank will dictate what lighting is required...

However, as i dont know the width of your hex tank in question, i will just provide an example...

Current USA PowerCompact Satellite Fixtures

Thats an 18w fixture, suitable for really low light corals, but the point i want to get across is the price..that fixture is only $48.99 for the 12 inch light....So, it can be done cheap, but, cheap is not always very good...

http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewI...y~FILTFIT54U~category~24in_Units~vendor~.html will get you close to your price range and grow a decent aray of corals.

It states its HO but im disagreeing with that. i have a model similar by coralife and its NO not HO. idk

used ones. but yes, i think it depends on what types of coral you want to put in. some take lots of high powered light and some dont require quite as much. talk to your lfs to find out how powerfull of lights you need then start looking for someone getting out of the reef hobby

i'm looking for new lighting....niko you know any online shops that sell lights like those ^^^^^ would be a great help...i can't see many they need to sit over the tank. 24inch
