actually there was no sign of anything, just dead the next day. That is why I was asking if there was any signs or symptoms. The only thing I noticed is that it is swimming close to the surface, but that's it.

That's too hard to figure it, need more information. Sometimes, they die without obvious pre-sign when juv. How long have you kept it? Did you do any change of environment?

Well that is what I was wondering why it just died. I've had him for about three months. About 16 1/2" Endi. Eating like a pig. As always, I just do that periodic water change, nothing ordinary. The other bichirs in there are still alive, 2 Lapradei and Congicus. Only thing I noticed is that it was swimming mid surface...and he usually just cruises the bottom. But the day before he died, he was swimming close to the surface, but nothing that looked fatal...that's why I wanted to start this thread to see if anyone have seen any signs or symptoms of a sick bichir. Because most of mine in the past that died showed no signs, just died. Oh for the record the big endi was purchased at a LFS that was traded in by a customer who's had the fish for two years.

Did it appear to be breathing heavily?

not at all...it seemed so normal so I didn't think anything was wrong with it. Only thing I noticed was that it was swimming mid-level and sometimes looking at the surface. Most of the time he was cruising the bottom and never close to the surface. That's why it was so weird.

sorry to hear Vince. Endis that size are hard to come by here in the east. Actually,
endis in general are hard to obtain here.
