They're small tube worms. If you look close at them in your tank, you can sometimes see the feathery fans they use to collect food out of the water. They're related to feather duster worms, but they never get any bigger than the size you're seeing them.

They don't bother anything, other than multiplying quickly and making it necessary to scrape them off the walls of your tank. If anything, they're filter feeders, so they will help filter small bits of food out of your water.

As far as i know the only way to get rid of them is to clean your tank out and start again.

I started getting those a few years ago. I did lots of thorough gravel cleanings when i did water changes and cut down on feeding. My fish ate alot of them too. Once I improved my water quality and sucked up alot of them they died off. Theyre kinda creepy LOL

thanks. i noticed the little filter fan parts of them. they remined me something off of a reef. i scraped as much of them off as i could off all the decor as well as vacuming the gravel. and they came back. hopefully some one will know of something that will kill them. cuz i dont want to break down the whole tank. but i will if i need to.

i have put feeding as to as little as possiable. its a 55 with a stock of

1. jar-arowana
1. RTC
1. RTCxTSN
1. Pbass
2. Clown knifes.

and water is crystal. ph is good as well

Those things are called hydra, just cut back on feeding shrimps and they will go away. They don't really pose any real threat to your tank, just too much uneaten food in there.
