So Cal
So the Venustus cichlid Plecos was talking about is in my quarantine tank. We put in some tetracycline made the water smell and super foggy. Now shes pooping out these hair sized clear string things that dont move and these egg looking things. It reminds me of mustard seeds, as far as size and shape. I took them out of the quarantine tank with a turkey baster and put them in a cup (the pic below) Anyone have and idea what these are? She wasnt pooping out the egg things until we put the tetracycline in there. Are they parasites that are dead because of the tetracycline? Im going to drop another dose of tetracycline in in a few hours. What are these?! Any info is something!

Tetracycline may be working now but many types of nematode, like those shown, can reinfest your fish if not completely wo\iped out. After treating with the tetracycline I suggest you follow up by treating with levamisole, praziquantel, or fenbendazole.

where can you get those?

praziquantel is found in the aquarium med Prazi-Pro, and levamisole can be found in powdered form at feed stores/agricultural supply stores, online as well.

yea thats something we definatly have to get for her. I feel bad cuz shes bigger and shes stuck in a 10g. so we treated her 4 times with tetracycline. so maybe as soon as we find one of those we can put that in with her. Shes still in quarantine and will remain there until we are 100% positive shes ok. Cant risk her goin back in a 75 with everyone else. Ill just have to keep an eye out where those meds are.
