I moved my small bichir from a 10 gallon to a 55 and turned the filter off in the 10 because I never intended to use it again, for a few months I had noticed white little things that almost looked like microscopic pitchforks attatched to the glass, so last night befor going to bed I checked the tank and the glass was crawling with worms about half a cm long and as thin as a hair , I poured alot of nox -ich in so nothing would survive , is that ich? and why did the worms things only appear when I turned the filter off?

lol thanks I was freaked out for a second , because my 55 g wasn't cycled so I just used the filter media from the 10 g and I woke up to find more eggs on the glass I was really scared lol but I guess they'll make a treat for my polypterus
Don't blame you for freaking out, I had to read this post because I was interested in seeing what other members had to say. So not harmful and can actually serve as food, perhaps I will throw the rest of my food in the tanks and tonight and get the natural "worm food" started up... won't have to buy fish food any longer. (just joking by the way)

The planaria came out when you turned the filter off because you took away their oxygen. They may look unsightly but they help keep your substrate clean.

lol it's such a relief because my bichir rests behind the heater supported underneath by the suction cup that holds the heater to the glass , the water isn't cold at all but I thought he may have been rubbing against somthing because he had ich
