One of my Singapore suppliers has platinum silver and ruby silver aros on their list this week. I asked for pics and received the following. The only size available on the platinum silver is 8-9 cm, though there is a pic of some larger ones here, too. The ruby silver are 15 cm but he sent a note with the pics saying that the ruby silvers are not ready to ship this week but should be able to go next week. He assures me that these are not dyed or painted. I've never seen either of them before and would like your opinions on what these are.
Thanks,
Mark

very interesting, probably a hybrid of some form but stunning none the less. I would also wonder if the rubbies hold that color.
EDIT: Let me rephrase that...not hybrid... but somehow coached through DNA splicing or something. The Asians sure know how to make pretty fish that's for sure. I would love to have 1 of both if they stay platinum and ruby.

the 'plats' aren't plats as they have color...true plats don't...as for the rubys they look like they are under a diff light to add more red in them...

I'm no expert but the last picture looks like is due to light effect, look at how pink/red the hand is as compare to normal skin color

hmmm...good eye on that. I have seen a lot of silvers with all kinds of orange and reds in them when small myself but it tends to disappear as they grow. It could definitely be the light but damn pretty regardless.

light altering actuall color of fish. Best to get a pic of the breeding stock within the aquarium or pool to see what you actually end up with? If not asking an arm & leg to get then get a box each & grow out a couple to at least 12" to see what they turn out to be? Sure you could sell the rest.

good eye I totally missed that

yeah the red looks like from the color of the light. the first one can be High shine silvers.

tank 1- light background, "light" light creates light silver aro, perhaps "high shine"

tank 2- black background, reddish light creates colorfull aro

lights, diet, background, substrate play big parts into a silvers look IMO.
