I forget what these are called but there's a pool full of them in my woods from a flood. They look like pill bugs or rolly-pollies. They have longer legs and can't roll up. They seem to live in the leaves in the water. My questoin is I was wondering if i could put them in my pond or filter to eat the waste and help break it down. I can catch em by the bucket full. Would they make good fish food? Also they might live where the pump is located in a deeper trench down the middle of the pond that funnels all the waste towards the pump. They could possibly eat the waste that is too big for the pump to suck up. The pond is 12x7x2.5 feet that goes to 3 ft in the trench. The pond is 1600+ gallons I believe. In it is a giant school of bluegill ranging from .5-4 inches that live in the 2 rock piles in the drop off from the one shelf that is 2.5x.2.5 and about 6 inches deep. There is a 6 inch crawdad in the rock piles too. A 13 inch lmb that has been killing off the bluegills because they were cycle fish lives by the pump in the trench and will be a permanent inhabitant of the pond. So I have 2 questions.
1- What should i do with the bugs,or should I just leave them be.
2- what should i stock the pond with, natives only such as gars and bowfin.
