What are the pits above and below the lips of my del? Sensory organs of some kind? Never really noticed them before until I took this photo on macro mode.

maybe delhezi? could be retro or weeksii...could be anything upper jaw aside from senegal without full body shots.
 
I don't think he's asking about its identity, but the pits found on its face. Yea, I've wondered about that too, but I never manage to find out. They could be a form of physical adaptation and hence, they may very well be sensory organs as you've guessed.
 
ok so this is just a thought, being the polys death roll and bight off large chuncks of food there mouth could easily be clogged while munching on something large and the pressur upwards could clog the nasal cavity for breathing. could these pits be to bring in air while eating to inflate or deflate the lungs or whatever.kinda like how a constrictor has the tube that pokes out of its mouth when eating something large to be able to breath... just a thought...

really though i think there most likely just sensory organs
