What are you guys keeping as upper level species in your native tanks ?? My sunfish etc. all seem to mostly stay in the lower section of the water column and i dont currently have anything in the top half basically, which i intend to change hopefully after this post. I would like to stick with natives and use as colorful and flashy species as possible.

all bass ive kept tend to stay near the surface, other choice would be pickerel

pretty much all sunnies stay hug the bottom of the tank, but i know my bass was always swimming around the top. hope this helps(lmb btw)

With smaller sunfishes killifish/topminnows work well.

Definitely. There are some 4" + topminnows, like northern and southern studfish, Seminoles, and some of the coastal species, that are big enough to hang with all but the biggest sunnies.

Thanks for all the suggestions, now i just have to see what of those i can come up with. :cool-1:
