I'm new to keeping rays. So I'm looking to see what other people are keeping their rays happy in. What's the size of their forever home? What kind of rays you keep in there? I'm looking at keeping motoro rays first.

I too am a novice. I have 4 rays right now in a 300 gallon which has a 8'x2' footprint. Right now they range in size from 9" disc to 12" disc and they are fine. In hind sight for the long haul I would have gone with a larger footprint in terms of sq. footage.

To save money and better the life of your rays (if that's all your keeping) you can shoot for a used frag tank. There generally only 12 - 16" tall. But I see 8x3 and 6x4 and 404 footprints for sale often enough for really cheap. For instance there's one local to me 8x3x16" with stand for 350 bucks. A tank with that footprint even at 21" tall would cost a small fortune.

Mine is 8x4x2ft it is about 360 uk gallons plus a 5x2x2ft sump tank total volume 400 uk gallons. I have 1 young male pearl at the moment but will be getting more in august again. I started with a small tank had to upgrade 3 times till I got this tank lost a fortune.

As absolutely as big as you can fit and afford. Cause you'll just have to keep upgrading. Which isn't bad if that's in your plans. That's what most of us have to do :). These beauties grow big you need at least 36" wide. And then you get hooked on them and need 5 more rays. Have fun!!

I have a 10' x 4' x 2' and house a trio of bd's I would say this is the minimum size for 2-3 adults. Either save or bust out the credit card lol
