We all know that bigger is always better in the world of MFK but smaller, standard size tanks have thier place as well.... as breeders....grow out tanks....fry tanks....ECT.

Over the years a few stock sizes have impressed me enough to gain the lable of....favorites. I'll start off a few of my own and why...and then let you all add in your opinions.

40 breeder....This tank has a great footprint for it's intended purpase although it leaves a bit to be desired as a display tank.

55 gallon standard.... What's not to love? This 4 foot industry staple has been around for years and will no doubt continue bieng produced in great numbers well into the future.

60 gallon standard.... This is a new favorite of mine. it's also a 4 footer...along with the 55 and 50 long. In fact it's just wider version of the 50 long... They are normally center braced with glass and fit VERY well into a rack arrangement.

100 gallon standard....The 5 foot version of this tank has a very nice footprint and is a good size without bieng so large you need to check your local building codes....

These 4 are some of my favorite tanks of all time and some that I feel have earned a honered place in any well equiped fish room. What are some of yours?.....

125 or 300 wide, i've always love the look of the wider shorter tanks, it gives added width, and looks damn good for rays.

i like the 75g long, looks soooo much better than the 55

180g cause I can't stand the look of the 125 (too thin), plus it opens up worlds of possibilities

500g long, 8' x 4' x 24", I can't think of one fish you can't put in here, other than the gigas

50,000g, although that is totally unrealistic other than to 1 lucky member here...

40breeder, whats not to love, small but very good for a growout tank!
100long, 6foot long, not too tall or heavy, and makes an excellent cichlid/eel tank.
150, nice show tank with its tall heigth.

anything over 30" wide, but not really a standard made width.

I like four foot tanks a lot. 33 longs are great, fit nice under a 55 or 75. I don't think I'd ever get a tank smaller than a 75 again.

anything over 6x2x2 anything less is not practical for me

personally I like width and breadth over height for tanks. 6'x30"x2' is a nice size, and of course anything bigger.

90 gallon or 125

I think the dimensions of a 125g (72"x18"x23") is perfect for most monster fishes. It's the largest tank I can afford.

anything over 6' in length and over 18" in width is good for me, anything smaller is just a sump
:p
