Let's hear it. Which of the Thorichthys species are your favorite? I've found quite a bit of information on firemouths but was on Imperial Tropicals and saw some other Thorichthys species. In doing some research I have found that there are quite a few species. I'm curious which are your favorites and why?

I'm assuming you don't keep all of these together in the same tank? What's your experience with ideal group size? I've heard they can be kept as single specimens and that they shoal. Which have you found to be ideal?

I keep them all in shoals of 8-10. I’ve kept them mixed previously as grow outs but now they’re separate. I keep all my tanks similar and only like to mix 1-2 species of cichlids together with a small dither fish for display tanks. Otherwise my fish room is all species only tanks.

I’ve always wanted to get helleri but haven’t gotten that one marked off the list yet.

Do they breed pretty readily?

I really like them as well. They're like the OG ones it seems. I actually had the good fortune or seeing one of those in the wild. A full grown adult (I'm assuming male) was displaying in a reserve I visited.

I also saw a Jack Dempsey and what I'm pretty sure were mollies. There were plenty of other fish that looked like cichlids but I was not able to identify them.
We have a member here that snorkeled in Central America where Jack Dempseys and Mollies inhabited.
