hey i was lookin through the forum and noticed there was not that much on the pim cats. i think that is messed up:irked:. what are your personal experiences with any pim cats, marbled pictus ornate 4 line any of them!!!:headbang2 i love the pim cats:D and was hoping to hear some good stories.

There not much general info about pim. Catfish because the family is so diverse. They range in size from like 5" to over 5'. The only thing they really share in common is that their predatory and if you have something it thinks it can eat it WILL find it and try. Necrocanis has some pretty good info about some of them in his sticky.

Both my pimelodus blochii and my juruense catfish have eaten fish over half their length so you gotta be careful mixing them.

i will check out the sticky you mentioned. ya i know about them eating everything. i had 2 pictus that when they where 2 inches ate some veiled angelfish that where 1.5 inches. then when they where 6 inches they mauled and ate a dragon goby. all they left was his head and tail. striped everything else off of him.

i got a 8.5 inch blochii who is a beast! when i first put him with my 5 inch jd the jd tried to attack him and he went spastic and scared th crap out of the jd, now they get along fine. My favorite thing to do is turn the tank lights off and throw in a big chunk of blood worms and watch him go to town, then he just swims the front glass for like an hour. Definitely underrated cat imo. they grow to a manageable size, they r very hardy relatively active and dirt cheap

I have a single pictus, he eats like crazy...after feeding his stomach is like 3x the normal size. I'm trying to find a few more, I know they like little schools. I think food is their #1 concern ;).

you might want to try brine shrimp, the frozen ones thawed out so they "swim" in the current made my pictus go ballistic. i would suggest 2-3 if you want to see the grouping behavior. unless you have a huge tank, 250+ you won't want to get more then 4 since they move so much. i fit 2 6 inchers in a 30 gallon with a dragon goby and a rainbow shark( red tail) it was cramped but they lived that way for 7+ years.
