Ok so I've bought a 6' 6" 200gallon tank and my thoughts have quickly turned to stands , well Ive been a stonemason (mainly in kitchen worktops and fireplaces) for 15 years and it seems obvious to me to make a stand using granite or engineered quartz . I've also dabbled in glass splashbacks recently where it's currently very popular to have them digitally printed with a design of your taste and choice so I thought I'd add some doors to the front pillars and make those into shelving racks with a 'fishy' design to adorn them and make the whole thing pretty ! I'd really love to market these and wanted to know whether if such a thing came onto the market would you buy one AND how much you would comfortably pay !

they would be heavy ? that would make them tough to sell ... but as a custom (permanent addition to a house ... INTERESTING...

They would be heavy but I'm planning to have the top removable so you 'break' them down into three more manageable pieces , I'd also offer a fitting service my only problem is I don't want to price myself out of the market I've no idea what kind of cost people are willing or would expect to pay for a top quality stand !!

just price good stands in your lfs ....and stay competitive (if possible ),,,3 peice stand?.... sounds cool and movable:cheers:

Maybe for a high end business but still tough sell. I would do it for your own enjoyment rather than trying to get top dollars when selling.

Hello; A 200 gallon tank with substrate and other stuff may well weigh over 2000 pounds. You know more about the weight of the stone work and this will need to be added to the total weight to be supported by the floor.

I think you'd have a tough time selling them to the average customer. What you might do is contact a few companies that specialize in building custom aquariums for the wealthy and businesses. Pitch your design ideas and they might tap you as a resource for custom work. Pairing up with them would make it a more viable option.
