I'm building my own filter and was thinking of using pot scrubbys. At Wally World earlier and they have "shower puffs" for $0.50. (It's the thing your wife/girlfriend uses with her body wash) Same concept as a scrubby. I figure just boil some water and dunk them and rinse REALLY good. Any reason I shouldn't?

I tried them before. The shower scrubbies aren't as rigid as pot scrubbies and compress down too much in my high volume filters. The local dollar stores carry pot scrubbies in 4 to 6 packs for a buck. IMO you'd be better off in the long run with pot scrubbies than with something less rigid. Cut up polyethylene floor stripper pads work well too.

Appreciate the heads up about the compression characteristic of the shower puff. They're going in a low flow setup so I shouldn't have a big problem with it.
