i have a tank that is approx. 100 gallons (42x23x25), i am thinking of re stocking it with some bichirs. the question is what type should i get, and how many? the stock that i would be keeping them with is 5 silver dollars, and a royal pleco.
, thanks
A delhezi and an ornate would do nicely in that tank. Although I won't recommand the royal plecos as they have been known to suck on the bichir's slime coat.
screw the bichirs! Go for a lung fish! Ornate bichirs are probably the most "stunning" of the group...Delhezi are a nice looking and fairly tolerant...a palmas is smaller but fairly good in groups so a couple would be nice. Personally, I'd go after an ornate or two...they usually max out at 18" give or take and they'd be an impressive addition...hey! here's an idea? BLUE YABBIES!!! BWHAHAHA!!!
did you see this thread yet? The "striped" smaller ones are the Dez's...the larger, more "green" pattern is the ornate...you can see its quite a bit larger and stout.
I'd get some delhezi, I think you'll be happy. I have 4 myself. I feed chopped fish, smelt, and also walleye and perch I caught in the summer, but delhezi can also eat smaller floating pellets and are not picky.
bichirs seem to like pellets and although they do sit on bottom i think they are fun to watch. ornates are most attractive and wild caught seem to have brighter colors. as for wolf fish always a big eater and also laY around never kept with other fish always afraid of those teeth
