I go on home depot and lowes website and cant find pool filter sand. All the local pool supply stores only have silica sand. Im gonna go on a sand hunt and just go to a couple of hd's and lowes stores. My question is what brand of non-silica pool filter sand do you guys use?? I dont wanna use play sand and i dont wanna kick out the dough for estes( 5 $$ a bag shiiiiiiit I paid 75 dollars for my 75 gallon screw that) ...........btw Im gonna be housing 2 green terrors, Dont know if it makes a difference.

Also, just to save you some time, you will never find pool filter sand that is not silica sand. The reason is it does not dissolve or break down in pool chemicals.

by the way, if $5 per bag of sand is way out of your budget, you are in for a big surprise when you find the specialty stuff. If you live near a lake or beach, you might want to consider the free stuff.

......but ur still a smartass I've found most pool filter sand is bagged by regional distributors, so brand names are going to differ by region. It's all basically the same sand. Good stuff. I now have it in 3 of my tanks. And yes, pool filter sand is silica sand.
