I had downloaded IE8 & have so much problems with it that I had to remove it. My friend recommended I try & compare google chrome, mozilla firefox, bing & opera (safari for mac is just ok)

My favorite by far is opera. It allows you to open so many windows as icons on toolbar instead of tabs - better yet - when you shut down, it saves all these windows upon boot up so you don't have to relaunch each site again. they load pretty quickly depending upon your connection speed.

So let us know your opinions on the above but also try opera & then compare it to the others.

Firefox + noscript. I haven't found anything that can compare. I don't use adblock for 1, most ads don't bother me, and 2, if they are providing free content, I can live with some ads. I use noscript for security reasons, no one should need me to run scripts on my end without my permission. All third party cookies are blocked automatically, like google-synd, and other ad servers and tracking websites, and all other cookies are set to ask me for how long to keep them.

I've tried Opera, and I like the speed dial feature of it quite nicely, and the minimize to systray, but really it can't compete with Firefox + noscript.

On windows IE7 isn't bad, don't know if I like the feel of IE8 yet.

Here we go again. Google Chrome is by far the lightest and fastest browser out there. I do love IE8 with the compatability view functionality is great. Firefox has gotten better but still is a memory hog. Opera is good but I don't use it often. Safari is nice but I hate that it has its own CSS properties that other browsers cannot render. The funny thing is, is Firefox and Safari in their latest releases and Firefox's upcoming release have ripped off features from Google Chrome, which just proves that Chrome is the better browser.

I'm just now trying out IE8. I had to ditch Firefox when I had a different issue and it wouldn't reinstall properly, but I did like it. I will agree that it is a bit of a memory hog. I might ahve to try out Chrome, but I'm a bit afraid. There are pros and cons to both IE8 & Firefox.

The thing I have the most about IE is the stupid Google cookie that will keep imbedding itself into your browser. It prevents you from using the Back button.

hmmmmm firefox, chrome and IE8 have this really annoying habit of putting up most visited websites and then there's all my porn lol ............. chrome has that stupid thing of highlighting spelling mistakes as well which annoys me.

I was using Opera for a while, but now I'm using Firefox, because the last Opera update made it alot slower loading pages for some reason. I also like how firefox screens and scans all my downloads before they are installed.

Use Google Chromes incognito window for that problem ;). Pages you view in it won't appear in your browser history or search history, and it won't leave any traces :D.

So basically I use all 3.
