Just as the title says: what camera do YOU use for pics of your wet pets? The wife and I are about to head out on a holiday and want to purchase a new camera for the trip, but I'd also like something that will take some good pics of the aquariums and inhabitants when I get home.

So, what do you use and how much did it cost??

If you're looking into DLSRs, any entry camera is good. I have the Nikon D5100. I think the newest entry level Nikon is the D3300 with a 18-55mm kit lens. I believe it's $650 on Amazon.

We are interested in SLRs and higher end point and shoot cameras primarily. I'm a dummy with cameras so I'm leaning towards point and shoot but my wife is an SLR fan.

Canon t4i with tripod and a lot of 6500k light bulbs. The lens I use is a 50mm 1.8 canon branded. I want to get a macro lens like the 100mm.

i use a canon 60D with canon 16-35mm f2.8L lens and canon 580EX flash. it works good. :) the camera itself will probably cost around $600 or so.

Wow, yeah these are pretty much exactly the type of pics I'm looking for, very crisp. Anybody experimented with a macro lens?

I asked a pro about using a macro lens, and she suggested I pick up one of the inexpensive macro rings just to test the waters, and gain experience before dropping the big bucks. I realize this device isn't close to a true macro....here are some examples using it.
