What size aquarium does one need to look at to keep Bass at home?

Also what type of Bass could be kept that stay relatively small?

Any links were I can find more information?

I would not keep cichla in anything smaller than a 240.

The species of cichla that stay smaller are ocellaris, monoculus, orinocensis.

Try and keep away from temensis....they are the monsters.

I would agree with Steve_89.... Small Pbass grow at a rate of an inch a month if fed well. If you plan to keep them for life you will need at least a 180... If you have anything smaller, you'll probably never get to see the true beauty of the fish!

Hey Steve, I heard someone say at a local store that as long as your fish aren't as long as your tank is deep, you should be okay. I mean, as long as the tank is also big enough for them to move around well. Is this true ?

That is pretty much true.. For one fish.. You also have to have enough filtration for the amount of fish. More fish, especially pbass, more poop, more, bigger water changes and a bigger stronger flow filter.

All you need to remember is that everyone here does not have the room for the fish they have and, NOTHING will ever be big enough... SO GO BIG:grinyes: :grinyes: A small pond would suffice.. THough i have mine in a 150.. For now..

For some fish this is true...but not with pbass.

Obviously pbass will need more room than the average fish to turn around. 24 inches is pushing it...

But they also need length. Pbass are fast striking fish. They need that extra length.

True...

But if people didn't buy fish they know they can't keep....

Problem solved....
