Hey,

I have a 6 foot 180 gallon tank with the following stocking:

1 Green Terror
1 JD
2 Firemouth
1 BGKF
5 Clown Loach
5 Bala Sharks

WHAT CAN I ADD??

Really want more American cichlids: was thinking about adding 1 of these:

1. Red Oscar
2. Salvini
3. Female Festae
4. Another Green Terror

What do you think? Festae is pretty aggressive I hear but could I add the Salvini and the Oscar. If not what else could I have??

Thanks

I keep a GT, female festae and FM pair in my 125 with a few other cichlids and have no major aggression issues.

hmm i would got with the oscar. because oscar are boss

Thanks guys.

Would I be overstocked if I added a female festae and a red oscar?? Looking for a female festae in northern NSW but I hear they are pretty rare. Shame.

Another question I have: Ive had some baby clown loach and they grow so sloooooooowwwww. Grown from and 1 to about 2 in about 3 months. Already have small green terror and the cichlids montioned with them with no problems, buying oscar in February. Too soon for their size or should i hold off on the oscar for longer...

Decision time.

Went to the lfs and they have baby jaguars!!

So for new years treat, as my last fish im either getting a jag or an oscar.

Which would you guys get and why? And what are the chances of a babt jag getting on with a green terror and JD (all babies/juveniles) in the long run??

Id go with an oscar man. Red's are cool. As for the jag i think their awesome but their preetty darn aggresive.

also have you considered a EBJD? I'm not sure how big your other fish are. You might have to grow him out. Hopefully not, as they grow sloooow. But they are awesome. And some people would frown on that, saying ebjds are less aggresive. But mine hold their own with oscars, and i find them to be the same temperment of jds or maybe even a little more aggresive lol.

sooo anyways..

Goodluck!

Perhaps your should old off on the oscar. Clown loaches are very slow growers, while Oscars are not. One day, BAM, you'll wake up to find the Oscar with a loach in its mouth, probably dying because the loach stuck out its spikes.

Festae or Jags will generally be overly aggressive for your setup...especially festae. It might work if you buy them small and they grow up together. Avoid feeding live food and make sure there are sufficient places for the fish to hide.

If you do try it, keep a close eye on the fish as the Green Terror/Jag/Festae approach 3-4 inches. That's when they start getting nasty. If they are already that size or larger, keep your net close by and watch them closely.

I would go with the Oscar or another GT. You'd be surprised how much tank space or territory an adult Jag will take in a 180gal. It sounds like you have a calm tank at the moment. So an aggressive cichlid might ruin that for you. And as mentioned above, be careful with the Oscar and Loach combo. Oscars can be very greedy and CL are yummy, bite-sized pieces with a spikey surprise inside. I'd hate for you to lose a loach and an Oscar at the same time.
