I have a 90 gallon tank, and can not keep any cichlids in their. When ever I put a cichlid in the 90 gallon they seem to be shy and unhappy and stop eating. I have a cory cat in their that seems to be ok, in fact the dichlids are not catching any disease or anything but just seems to not like the tank. I am using an aqua clear filter the biggest one that they make, I forgit the model number. Do you think I should add a canister ot the tank? I do water changes 25% once a week.
My male and female grammodes don't like the tank, if I put them in the big tank (look at my signature) then they are happy, if I put my Escondido in their then I have the same proplem. I need to put a pair of something in their to give me more room in my 360. Do anyone have any suggestion on what may be the problem?

My geo is happy in the 75g, but my male carpintis is mild and timid in the 75g. He doesn't come up to grab pellets or chase a single fish during spawning, you should try decorate the tank and if the tank is too low, that might be the problem.

maybe try some dithers such as silver dollars or filament barbs, that may get your grammodes to feel a bit more comfortable in the tank.

I have had this happen to me before and it was one of my powerheads leaking a very small electrical current in the water.
That happened to me years ago when i tried building my own lights. Hard to find out what it was!

To the OP try adding more current, more gas exchange by breaking the surface of the water with something like an air stone or a powerhead.
Try adding some different decor, dithers, big waterchange, change the temps

I would add dithers and hiding spots. If you are putting the gramodes or texas in there, then I would take out the cory. Cories need to be kept in groups too. Just give them time to get used to the tank, and they will be fine.

Thanks for the advice, I did a 70 % water change and took the grammodes out and put them in the 360 and put the Escondidos in the 90, the Escondidos seems to have adjusted to the 90 better than the Grammodes. When I had the Grammodes IN THE 90 GALLON, I had two artificial plants in the tank and a large stone rock, with gravel substrate.

I had to place a divider in my 360 gallon to keep the male grammodes from fighting my Midas, so the male is on one side of the tank and the rest of the cichlids is on the other side. My male midas is much larger than my male grammodes, but he will stalk my Midas and have him stressed, so I put a divider between them. I thought that the Midas was just as aggressive as grammodes?

I brought another heater and got rid of the old one. I also brought another aqua clear filter 110 so I now have the two agua clear 110 on the back of the tank. I have 100 gallon tank that I will be setting up eventually for the male and female grammodes.
