I finally let my g/f talk me into getting something other than a catfish, but the place i got him from didn't really know too much about him.he seems to be very social and eats constantly.I just want to make sure that i'm not going to have any problems with him in the future.I do know that he'll get to be a fairly descent size, but will he get aggressive once he's larger? Also,i have recently picked up a catfish that i'm not too sure what he is.He has the features of a type of Doradide but the store listed him as a "pre-historic catfish".I don't have a camera yet so i can't post pics but any ideas?

that's good to hear.so will i have any problems with him down the road since i have him freshwater and he's a brackish water fish?i mean,he seems to be doing just fine.

the more they mature the more they need sea salt ..the closer they get to adult hood the higher they need to be on the brackish end.. as adults they need high end brackish to full marine conditions they idealyshould be in brackish water now.. most brackish fish that are sold as fresh water should already be in brackish water by the time they are large enough to sell in stores.. keeping him in fresh water you will have stunted growth shortened life span and more health issues

Scats will grow large to about 12". However they do grow slowly. If you plan on keeping the scat it should be in brackish water.
