I've spent all my time concerned about my bigger tanks, and have finally gotten rid of my guppies, but the problem is, I've focused so much on larger tanks, I don't even have a clue what I can keep in a 10 gallon? I've don't to much "monster fish keeping" I don't know what to do :nilly:

I keep Firemouths, a Jack Dempsey, Synodonts, hybrid Parrot, and soon enough a Green Spotted Puffer that I all love very much :).

Anyone have any ideas!?

absolutely not

danios and tetras

gouramis

Cherry shrimp and java moss with a sand substrate. Soon you'll have hunders of them.

I wouldn't keep danios; they are very active fish who require a lot of room. The only tetras I'd keep in there are neons, which can look great in a planted tank, along with a few pygmy corydoras. You could find the prettiest betta in the world and give him a great, huge tank! Gouramies need much more room than this; even the dwarf ones, if they don't die from the wierd gourami disease they all seem to have, need more room than this. If you chose to go with a betta, you could do the tank with plants and shrimps, as well as a couple of (plant friendly) snails. It would look great.

get moss on the bottom some swords in the back and some small tetras for the middle and some cherry shrimp for the bottom

the 1 inch per gallon rule is more or less made for mothers to say to their children just to make things idiot proof and teach a little responsibility.. it isn't really logically sound or anything. just like "don't put your elbows on the table" or "don't open an umbrella in doors".

i keep 13 exos in my 10 gallon. and to tell the truth it still looks quite empty. they actually act more like redbelly piranhas than people think. they hide in plants when your not there and then start swarming when you approach the tank (thinking food).

when they get scared they do dart and knock their heads against the glass which makes an unpleasing sound but thats the only reason to really consider more room but other then that they aren't as active as people say. i still recommend them though!;):headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

WARNING: it will be the most expensive tank you own in a cost to size ratio!
