I'm looking for one or two more fish to finish off my 265 and was thinking about a Planiceps. Does anyone have any large ones ?? If so, whats their temperment ??? Are they similar to RTC's or more like TSN's . I currently have both a RTC and TSN and tend to like the RTC's disposition a little better. Their both only 5" now so i'd like to add another soon before these guys get too big. Any suggestions ???? I saw some nice Marbled cats down at Shark Aquarium last week but i've had a few of them over the years. Any other nice, personable cats ???

Dont worry i have plenty of space to keep them when they get big.

Thanks much.....

I take it you are referring to Sorubimichthys planiceps. If you are they are on my want to have list but they just get large 5-6 ft. the ones I have stumbled across in the past on the web and talking to people haven’t got to that size but still a big boy. Water requirements etc.

6.5 - 7.0
Temperature 24.0-28.0°C or 75.2-82.4°F
Other Parameters normally found in white waters high in suspended sediments. (Hens very thin body)

it requires a high oxygen content in the water also i have been told it is sensitive to water conditions and likes a lightly soft acidic water and a maximum of 18dh general hardness

This is a nice picture of the sort of set up you will require.

Yes i am referring to the Sorubimichthys Planiceps. My main question is their feeding habits. I'm sure they eat well like most big cats, but my large RTC's were very docile and relaxed when fed. My TSN and Hybrid tiger/redtail are very aggressive eaters. Just curious how they act. I had a little guy a few years back but he never maid it past 6" and jumped to his death.
Anyone have any pics ???

thank.....

Mines about 11" right now and loves nightcrawlers and feeder minnows. Its pretty sweet to watch him cruise mid water in the current and smoke the minnows. Since I moved him to the 240 he doesn't cruise in the mid water anymore but I think its because hes considerably smaller compared to my pbass and pike. Still a very impressive fish. Biggest I've seen pics of in captivity is over 4ft and a member on this board :) Here's a couple pics of mine

The one I used to have was very peaceful. It was purcahsed at about 6 inches and was kept with a few kois and some irridescent sharks (which were also small; kois were only about 6 inches and the sharks maybe 4). It was a very picky eater. I started it with brine and ghost shrimp after a while it stopped eating those. I moved onto feeder fish and it went off of those for a while. When it and all the tank mates grew larger I moved them into a 600 gallon pond. It was pretty neat to see it just cruise the surface at night. When it finally reached 2 ft i noticed it started gulping down the koi pellets. Damn thing was like a whale it just shoots across the surface and stuffs its mouth with the pellets.

It wasnt the most suitable conditions to house one in but it seemed pretty happy.

I have one that is just a terror. He is about 30" now and nothing smaller than 9-12" is open game for him. Do a search for some of my other posts. He killed a large lima, tig, and a pair of 7" fronts.
Mine is VERY aggesive at feeding time. I have to overfeed just so his tankmates get a bite to eat.
I will take a new pic and post it when I get home.
