I absolutely LOVE the way RTCs look. they are gorgeous fish. but even in my 220g they will get too big. do shovelnose/rtcs grow to the same size? does anybody have any suggestions for a catfish that would be happy in a 220g for life that is not a dinky little thing. Preferably a predator. If yall could post pics with your replies that would be great!

Hi, it terms of recommending suitable species it would be helpful if you stated the dimensions of your tank, i.e. how your 220 gallon tank is configured. In your case the optimum confiruration would place importance on length and width, not so much height. Sorubium lima, Perrunichthys perruno and Brachyplatystoma tigrinum (was Merodontotus tigrinis) MIGHT be okay. The former would require at least 24" wide and the latter two species at least 30" wide. Loads of pics within google. Good luck and keep us posted on your choice!!

yea i agree.....either a jurenese or a tig would look real great in that tank........

:grinno: I love my Jelly Cat(pseudopimelodus apurensis). They're rare but great fish. They grow to about 11 inches and are extremely predatory. It's got this incredibly big mouth it's awesome to watch them eat. They just open their mouths and anything near it gets sucked in.

a piebald walking catfish!

May I suggest a small school of bullheads? They're always on the move and have great personalities and you don't have to worry about tankmates.
