In my pond small fish do not survive. They always die after a few days and look like this. The fins are removed bc i feed them to my lmb. Some i leave the fins on but they still die. Any help? Thanks

Could be some type of fungus, which could be caused by poor handling of the fish.

Also I was just curious why you cut the fins off? In the wild fish (including bass) eat lots of pokey, bitey things like bluegill, crayfish, etc and they don't need anyone to cut the spines off for them...in fact, I've seen fish eat a bluegill backwards without issue on more than one occasion.

So the bass are in the pond too, and they don't show any symptoms?

Any chinese algae eaters in the pond? They've been known to suck the slime coat off fish when they get larger, which would open the fish up to an infection like that.

And they also die periodically getting them stuck in their mouth. I've seen it in the wild, and also in aquarium fish (in fact there are a few posts on here from people that tried to feed their fish sunfish and they got stuck. One post I remember the person had to cut the sunfish in half to get it out of his fish's mouth).

As far as the picture posted by the OP, I'm not sure. Several diseases can LOOK like that, so without anymore info it's hard to say. Could also be some sort of injury.

You say only small fish die, and that when they do they always look like the picture you have posted.

Honestly, to me it looks like abuse from other fish. If there were a disease or parasite in the pond then your larger fish would be affected somehow. The fish in your picture above looks like it's been sucked on or bitten. They probably die from infection or trauma after this happens.
